OBJECTIVES & CHARACTER:

“El-Oasis” Bellydance Complete Course is addressed to Bellydance Students:

  1. willing to delve into the deep and detailed study of the millenary Art of Bellydance through a most COMPLETE, DETAILED & EXTENSIVE PROGRAM designed to be taught over a LONGER PERIOD OF TIME
  2. appreciative of a WELL PLANNED STRUCTURE OF UNITS BUILDING UP IN DIFFICULTY & COMPLEXITY, characterized by a PRACTICAL APPROACH
  3. willing to dedicate substantial time, true effort & hard work to their individual practice in between the sessions, ideally combining it with any regular classes, understanding that Bellydance is a very complex and ancient Art which can only be mastered through many years of dedicated study and practice. Nobody turns into a professional Bellydancer by registering in a 84 hours course: that’s only a good beginning of many years of intensive work in which the individual practice is crucial.

Thanks to its structure & methodology, it is open to ALL LEVELS, INCLUDING THE BEGINNERS unlike the Professional Training for Dancers & Teachers, and it is best taught in 6 Saturday-Sunday weekends (called Parts in the Program) or three 4-day sessions separated by a 1, 2 or 3 months breaks in between the sessions for Students’ material integration & progress time through individual practice + ideally regular classes support, before moving on with the next Levels of instruction.
The Students receive a GUIDE TO EACH CLASS UNIT and MANY CDs with Middle Eastern musical samples, rhythms and complete music tracks for all choreographies.

The Bellydance Complete Course has been created by Nigma to spread it through “El-Oasis” Worldwide Bellydance Community as a coherent and detailed guiding structure and methodology of the Middle Eastern Dance deep study intended as an ideal complementary and supporting tool to the Students’ regular classes (not the regular class substitute, as mastering this Millenary Art, just as any other, requires many years of committed study). It is meant to help Students to get a full view of MED resources & how they are interconnected and further give direction to their learning process, leading them from the basic and fundamental to the advanced and professional elements of dance.

Its structure and concept allow the participation of Students with diverse backgrounds and levels of knowledge as long as they are interested in a thorough study and fast progress.

STRUCTURE:

The Bellydance Complete Course consists of 3 Sections with many Parts building up in difficulty and complexity: Technique & Rhythm Study, Choreographies based on the body expression and Choreographies including props. All Choreographies are appropriately adapted to the LEVEL of the material taught at every stage of the Course and ALL are different from the ones taught in the Professional Training for Dancers & Teachers.

SECTION I: Bellydance Foundations (Parts 1-6) (84h=12 days x 7h/day): the practical knowledge & skills in the Foundations of the Middle Eastern Dance covering the historical, musical & rhythmical, anatomical and technical topics to build up the Students’ knowledge of the fundamentals and prepare a strong base and rich vocabulary necessary for the dance study through dance improvisation & choreography: Bellydance History, Biomechanics, MED Technique (body core: Upper/Lower Body Technique, Footwork, Armwork; Special Resources in dance), ME Music notions & extensive Rhythm study, sample dance sequences & choreographies based on different Time Signature rhythms.
It prepares you for the Bellydance improvisation and choreography study within the Second and Third Sections of the Course, or other instructors’ classes and workshops.

SECTION II: Musical & Choreographic Forms in MED (Parts 1-12) (168h=3 Sessions of 8 days x 7h/day): the study of choreographic concepts & formulas in MED, the use of space, time & energy through choreographies in which body language is the only tool with the objective of acquiring and perfecting the necessary body skills before entering the big world of props (Baladi, Shaabi, Maqsoum, Taqseem, Drum Solo, Geel/Pop, Interpretation of Oum Kalthoum, Entrances-Presentations & Finales and Interpretation of Farid El Atrache, Ahmed Fouad Hassan, Baligh Hamdy & Mohamed Abdel Wahab in full Raqs Sharqi Routines).

SECTION III: Props in MED (Parts 1-8) (112h=2 Sessions of 8 days x 7h/day): Prop technique and choreography study with the use of the props representative for MED (Veil, Finger Cymbals/Zils, Cane, Wings, Double Veil, Candles, Sword and Riqq/Tambourine).
